Beloved Upper Merion Police Officer, Who Died At 32, Mourned By Community

The widely respected professional policeman also loved football, basketball, playing video games, and fitness, his obituary states.

UPPER MERION, PA — Condolences and well wishes poured in from around the region over the past week as communities mounred the untimely death of a 32-year-old Upper Merion police officer.

Troy Nicholson died off-duty on Saturday, July 15.

"Troy enjoyed football, basketball, playing video games, and fitness," his obituary states. "He had a passion for exotic cars, racing and bike riding, riding in the Bike MS: City to Shore Ride. Troy loved watching the Food Network and the Weather Channel, being an unofficial storm chaser."

Coworkers with the Upper Merion Police Department described a consummate professional who was "compassionate and gentle."

Nicholson was hired in 2017. He also served in nearby Royersford and Amity.

He graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and Reading Police Academy.

Services were held Monday morning.
