Calling all Artists

The (Montco SAAC) is offering free art and sculpture classes on Thursdays. Classes are from 10 a.m. to noon every Thursday and offer a mix of drawing, painting, papier-mâché and pottery making.

Each artist works in his or her own medium with guidance from volunteer art instructor Vaughn Stubbs. Some students have dabbled in art all their lives, and others are novices, but the thrill of achievement and the camaraderie of peers make this class a lively place.

Stubbs is an accomplished artist and a graduate of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. He was the recipient of the Prestige Crescent Award, which offered a three-month stay in Europe to study and observe museums there.

Stubbs also volunteers at the Philadelphia Museum of Art teaching the blind, as well as teaching inner-city children being raised by their grandparents.
