CHOP To Open New Hospital In King Of Prussia

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is building a massive new, 250,000 square-foot inpatient hospital in King of Prussia.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is building a new inpatient hospital in King of Prussia.

The new 250,000 square-foot hospital, which officials hope will be operational in 2021, will be located on South Goddard Boulevard.

“Today’s announcement marks a recognition of the ever-growing demand for world-class pediatric care
closer to home,” Madeline Bell, president and CEO of CHOP, said in a statement.

The new building will include 52 inpatient beds, 16 pediatric intensive care unit beds, and 36 medical surgical unit beds. It will operate alongside the existing Specialty Care and Surgery Center in King of Prussia, and will allow continuous care of patients without relocation to the University City campus.

Further features will include a 24-hour emergency department, four operating rooms, radiology services, and further pediatric specialties like orthopedics, plastic surgery, and ear, nose, and throat care, according to CHOP officials.

It's the second major healthcare announcement in King of Prussia this month, as Main Line Health recently broke ground on their new Women's Specialty Center and $32 million facility.
