PHILADELPHIA, PA — The City of Brotherly Love is days away from hosting its second major sport league championship in a matter of months.

Just over two months after the Phillies hosted the San Diego Padres for three games of the National League Championship Series, the Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 on Ticketmaster.com.

Prices are not yet known, but if the divisional round game against the Giants is any indication, expect them to start at around $300 or more. Costs for the Giants game quickly ballooned to more than $11,000 on resale sites like Stubhub, and NFC Championship game tickets are likely to be much more.

Many fans were in uproar over the ticket selling process for the Giants game, as some waited in lengthy lines only to be offered an odd number of seats for an astronomical price. It's not clear if the same exact process will be used for the NFC Championship. Ticketmaster did not reply to a request for comment from Patch on the matter.

The Birds are slight favorites over the second seeded Niners, who beat the Dallas Cowboys in a defensive matchup this weekend in their own divisional round game. The Eagles opened as minus 118 moneyline favorites.
