It's the game of the year
When the regular season schedule was released over the summer, Monday night was touted by the league as the number one most exciting, highly anticipated game of the year. As well it should have been, as rarely do both Super Bowl teams return with such fire and promise the same year. The Eagles and the Chiefs have not dissapointed. With the season more than halfway over, the Birds lead all NFC teams with an 8-1 record, while the Chiefs lead all AFC teams with a 7-2 record.

A battle of MVPs
It's rare enough to see the two best teams in each league repeat as the two best teams in each league, nevermind get to play against one another. And it's just as rare that the top two finishers in the MVP voting a year ago find themselves atop the standings again, one year later, and get to face off against one another.
Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts may have started one of the greatest rivalries in generations — something to overcome even the Brady-Rodgers-Manning battles of the past two decades. Mahomes and Hurts are neck and neck in the odds to be the next MVP, a year after Mahomes edged Hurts for the honors. Like the NBA, the NFL only awards one MVP, but each player has been the hands-down MVP of their conference for two years running. If the race remains this close, Monday night could be a a deciding factor in the final voting, and just the latest chapter in a rivalry between living legends.
It could be a forecast of next year's Super Bowl
What's most obvious doesn't always come true in professional sports. Just look at the 2023 baseball postseason.
That said, the Chiefs and the Eagles have played like the class of their conferences and appear to be on a collision course to a rematch in the Super Bowl. If they meet up again, it would mark the first time in 30 years that there was a rematch in big dance. Not since the Cowboys and Bills battled in both 1992 and 1993 has their been a rematch in consecutive seasons.
Extracirriculars
The Eagles and the Chiefs have more than just a compelling rivalry on paper.
This will be the fourth matchup between the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, the Eagles legendary center. Travis has won all four matchups.
Their equally famous mother Donna Kelce will be in attendance. Her tradition for games between her sons has been to wear a jersey or sweater split between Eagles and Chiefs colors.
Taylor Swift was planning on attending the game, but is now unable to due to a schedule shift on her Eras tour.
Iowa University basketball superstar Caitlin Clark will appear on "ManningCast" to provide analysis and commentary with brothers Peyton and Eli during the game.
