East Norriton Water Main Troubles Continue
Officials say no water service to customers has been affected, but traffic along Township Line Road is still in turmoil.
Traffic in East Norriton continues to be an issue Friday afternoon in the area of Township Line and Swede roads, as crews from Pennsylvania Amercian Water (PAW) work on yet .
According to Terry Maenza, Director of Communications for PAW, the reasons for the recent breaks are still not clear.
"[There] could be a number of factors," said Maenza. "The pipe is made of transite, which is a cement-fiber material that can become brittle and break just a short distance from a previous break."

Maenza couldn't confirm the exact age of the pipeline, but says these types of transite water mains were typically installed in the 1940s and '50s.
According to East Norriton Township Manager Donald Delamater, today's issues began this morning when crews attempted to recharge the repaired line.
