Man Robbed 4 Montco Banks Of $33K In Less Than A Month: DA
Four bank robberies in a matter of weeks netted the local man more than $33,000, police said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Norristown man has been arrested after robbing four local banks in less than a month, the District Attorney's Office said.
Frank Maley, 53, of Norristown, faces charges for crimes which took place between Sept. 14 and Oct. 12. Maley had originally been convicted in 2010 for a similar robbery at the National Penn Bank in East Norriton.
During the first robbery at the BB&T in East Norriton on Sept. 14, Maley pulled a black ski mask over his face, approached the teller, and demand money, according to a criminal complaint. He came away with $3,867, police said.

Next, on Sept. 17 at Key Bank in Lower Gwynedd, Maley wore a t-shirt over his head with holes cut out to see, police said. An employee saw him coming and tried to barricade the door, but the suspect made his way in, authorities said. "Give me everything, hundreds, hundreds," he said, according to the complaint. He made off with $797, police said.
Then, on Sept. 30 at Key Bank in East Norriton, Maley wore an orange shirt over his face with holes cut in it, police said. He approached the teller with his arm extended inside a plastic bag, as if he had a gun, the complaint states, yelling "get on the ground," and demanding cash. This netted $9,902, according to authorities.

Finally, on Oct. 12 at Bryn Mawr Trust in Whitpain, Maley wore a white mask and implied to the bank's employees that he had a weapon, police said. "I will shoot you, I don't want to shoot you," he said, according to the complaint. He stole $20,000 all told in this fourth robbery, which police said was nearly identical in method in the robbery he was convicted of in 2010.
Investigators from several surrounding municipalities, along with the FBI and Montgomery County detectives, worked together to identify Maley. They utilized electronic surveillance, video forensics, numerous interviews with witnesses, and more to narrow their search.
The investigation ultimately led them to a maroon 1999 Ford F-150 pick-up truck, which was identified by witnesses on the scene of multiple robberies, the DA's Office said.
Charges against Maley include robbery: fear of serious bodily injury, and related counts. Bail was set at $250,000 and he was remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 21.
