Norristown To Consider Main Street Improvements Thursday
New sidewalks, light posts, bike racks, trash cans, parking buffers, and benches could be on the way to Main Street Norristown.
NORRISTOWN, PA — New sidewalks, light posts, bike racks, trash cans, parking buffers, and benches could be on the way to Main Street Norristown.
They're among the proposals before the Norristown Historical Architecture Review Board, which is slated to discuss the matter during their coming meeting on Thursday evening.
The proposed improvements mark the fifth phase of the municipality's Main Street Streetscape Project. More trees, decorative pavers, and light post poles with ADA push buttons are also proposed.

The Board will also address improvements to the historic property at 1108 Dekalb Street. An application has been submitted to remove the existing roofing and install new Certain Teed, Belmont roofing shingles, and black granite.
The responsibility of the Board is to maintain the historic character of designated zones in Norristown. Specifically, they aim to ensure that "any changes to the built environment that can be seen from a public street are historically appropriate and consistent with the other buildings in the surrounding neighborhood of the Norristown historic districts."
