Norristown Council To Vote On Downtown Redevelopment Project

Municipal council will vote Tuesday on key approvals for the proposed eSports facility, apartments, and bars in the old Baer building.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The next step in the proposed redevelopment of a significant property in downtown Norristown will take place on Tuesday, when municipal council casts their vote on a few critical aspects of the project.

Mill Creek Properties has proposed to transform Baer Building, a longstanding Main Street property, into a revitalized center for Norristown's downtown district. The proposal includes bringing in "eSpot," a state of the art gaming facility, 15 affordable studio apartments, a brew pub and sports bar, a BBQ restaurant, a rooftop bar, a bike shop, and a yoga studio.

On Tuesday night, council will vote on two key asks included in Mill Creek's proposal: the adoption of a tax abatement program called LERTA (Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance) to get the project off the ground, as well as a zoning variance necessary to execute the plan.
