Plummeting COVID Cases In Montco Appear To Reach Plateau
COVID-19 is not fully vanished from Montgomery County, but numbers have remained steadily low.
NORRISTOWN, PA — COVID-19 is not fully vanished from Montgomery County, but numbers have remained steadily low into the mid-summer.
The percent positivity rate on all tests remains below one percent, sitting at 0.8 for yet another week. That does mark a slight increase over the 0.6 percent mark the county saw over the previous seven day period, according to statistics from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The county's rate stood at 0.6 back on June 22, indicating that a plateau of sorts may have been reached — at least in the short term.
The total number of confirmed cases of the virus also increased slightly last week, although that number also remains very low. There were 42 cases in the county last week, and 57 this week.

The total number of hospitalizations, which often reflects decreases in cases from weeks previous, fell from 12.9 to 12.0, numbers which are very small compared just a few short months ago. Other healthcare metrics, like the percentage of emergency room visits due to COVID-19 symptoms, inched up from 0.6 percent to 0.8 percent.
Officials continue to encourage residents to get vaccinated. The vaccination rate has climbed steadily; 350,914 individuals in the county have been fully inoculated. That's an increase of some 164,000 since June 22.
