Solidarity Run Against Violence Held At Norristown Farm Park

"We are a strong community. We are always better together."

NORRISTOWN, PA — Victims of violence in Montgomery County - including the young woman who was sexually assaulted while running in Norristown Farm Park - are not alone.

That was proven during the Solidarity Run on Wednesday evening, held at Norristown Farm Park and benefiting the Victim Services Center (VSC) of Montgomery County.

"We are a strong community. We are always better together," local running company All Kinds of Fast said in Facebook message addressing the event.

The running groups Run610 and Norristown Running Club joined together with VSC to host the event. Runners gathered in the park's Whitehall lot before embarking on the three mile "solidarity run and rally."

On the morning of Aug. 1, a 19-year-old woman was running in the Farm Park when a masked man, armed with a handgun, sexually assaulted her. A $10,000 reward has since been issued for his capture.
