PHILADELPHIA, PA — The NFL is now officially investigating the hit that knocked Carson Wentz out of the game in the first quarter of Sunday's playoff matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. However, reports indicate there will not be a suspension, and only a fine is on the table.

Wentz was only minutes into his playoff debut when Seahawks star defender Jadeveon Clowney appeared to hit Wentz after Wentz was already going down. Clowney leapt on top of Wentz as the two dove toward the ground, with Clowney's helmet smacking into Wentz's.

Wentz left the game with a head injury, and ultimately it was determined that he had suffered a concussion.

There was no flag on the play, which left Eagles fans outraged, as they thought that Clowney has targeted Wentz specifically. Eagles players agreed, and could be seen confronting Clowney about it throughout the rest of the game.

For his part, Clowney said it was not intentional. "I don't intend to hurt anybody in this league," he told reporters after the game.

But it's not the first time Clowney has made a questionable hit on an Eagles quarterback. Here's a gruesome facemask tackle he made of Nick Foles when he, Clowney, was a Texan last season:

The Eagles ultimately lost the game, 17-9.

There is no timetable for a decision on any possible punishment for Clowney.
