It's still just spring training, but new Phillie and $330 million man Bryce Harper put on quite the show during a Thursday afternoon matchup with the Blue Jays.

Harper, who up until today had gone 1 for 10 with a few walks in his limited action as a Phillie, got the mid-March crowd roaring with two monster home runs.

The first came with a man on in the bottom of the first inning. A rising fastball came up and into the middle of the plate and Harper knocked it over the right field fence:

He later tallied a walk, and scored on a J.T. Realmuto homer (the All Star catcher's fourth of the spring). But then he came up in the sixth, and this time there was no doubt.

That second one came from a left-hander, Thomas Pannone. Lefties give Harper trouble, but this ball was hit out of the stadium, over the fence behind the right field bleachers.

Coincidentally, it was the Blue Jays Harper faced last week when he left the game after being hit by a pitch, in a scary moment for everyone involved. Fortunately, Harper was fine. Tyler Thornton, the pitcher who hit Harper, did not throw for the Jays on Thursday.

All told, the Phillies hit six home runs Thursday, including dingers from Harper, Realmuto, Andrew Knapp, Andrew McCutchen, and Gift Ngoepe.

The only bit of bad news: the struggles of Vince Velasquez this spring continued, as he allowed three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings, ballooning his spring earned run average to 12.79. The silver lining there is that of the 10 outs he recorded, however, nine were strikeouts.
