Yellow Phase In Montco: Yes To Summer Camps, No To Public Pools

If Montgomery County is able to move into the yellow phase, summer camps will likely be allowed, but not public pools, officials said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Summer camps will likely be permitted to operate in Montgomery County if it is able to move from the red to yellow phase of graduated reopening laid out by the state, officials clarified on Tuesday.

However, public pools will not be able to open under the yellow phase. Backyard pools, of course, can be used by owners at their discretion.

"The governor's office is considering summer camps in the same category as child care," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said, while noting that the state has yet to create a separate category for summer camps in their reopening plan.

Residents are testing at a 14 percent positive rate over 24 days of operation now completed at the Montgomery County Community College site. That's lower than it was as recently as a week ago, when the overall rate was at 16 percentage.

"We are indeed starting to see those numbers come down," Arkoosh said.
