A fossil hunting trip to Calvert Cliffs in Maryland.
It is a really amazing place. There is a fee to drive into the park, it's $5 not too bad. Then you walk about two miles to the cliffs. The public beach is pretty picked over for fossils. But the picture is of a beach a few hundred yards north of the public beach. There is a path to get there but I am not sure how to get to it from the parking lot. I went through the woods over the hill and through a swamp, which I strong recommend against. It is all holly and thick underbrush and not a pleasant walk!

The cliffs are full of grey clay, which when wet is quite fun to walk on. A good tip is to go when it is calm weather and go at low tide! I was there as the tide was coming in and was a little concerned about my return route being cut off by the tide. There are tons of fossilized shells and other fossils all over the place. It is also quite a beautiful place.
