A Priceless Holiday Gift

Nothing in America is free – an adage that has proved itself true over and over again. Especially during this Holiday season. Want a good product? Big box stores have found an infinite amount of ways to entice the consumer with good deals that come with headaches. Holiday shopping has become a job in itself. However, a good gift doesn't always have to be a physical product. 

The best gift I have ever received cannot be opened under a Christmas tree or bought in a store. You can't use Kohl's Cash or Groupon or have to stand in line for hours. As a young adult, the best thing to receive is mentorship. Finding someone who genuinely believes in you and wants you to succeed is priceless. 

You might be thinking, "How do I give mentorship?" I don't think you can. I strongly believe that the mentee must pick the mentor. How does the mentee pick a mentor? The mentee must self analyze themselves. What are the qualities the mentee wants to have? For me, I wanted to have a discernible artistic aesthetic as well as a strong business sense and a mean work ethic. I wanted someone to understand my growing pains, but was removed from my family. Someone who had treasures and gems as thoughts to give me as gifts.

I found him. I never told him that he is my mentor, but he knows I look up to him. Maybe if I tell him this holiday season that I have been his mentee, he will receive it as a gift. 

With that said, I still want Santa to leave something under the tree for me!
