"Heart And Soul" Of Richboro Swim Club Remembered As "Hometown Hero"
Through the Richboro Swim Club and Valley of Fear, Tom Yeagel created more than places people visited. He created places people remember.

RICHBORO, PA — U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick this month is recognizing the late Tom Yaegel as a PA-01 Hometown Hero.
Once a month, the Bucks County Congressman singles out an individual or a group and honors them as one of the Congressional District's Hometown Heroes. This month, he chose Tom Yaegel, who passed away on June 27 at the age of 79.
"There are some people you are simply grateful to have known. Tom Yaegel of Richboro was one of them," said the Congressman, in selecting Yaegel for the honor.

"He was a veteran, patriot, builder, mentor, and a man whose life touched far more people than he probably ever knew — a true Hometown Hero.
"I was proud to call him a friend, and will always remember his quick wit, larger-than-life presence, relentless drive, and the deep love he had for his family, community, and country," said Fitzpatrick.

Yaegel enlisted during the Vietnam War, earning his commission through Officer Candidate School and serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in support of U.S. Special Forces.
When he came home, he built a life with the same grit and determination he brought to his service.
For 56 years, he shared that life with his wife, Ann. He built a family he adored, businesses that became local institutions, and opportunities that changed lives.

Generations of families spent their summers there. Generations of young people got their first jobs there. Friendships began there. Traditions took root there. And so many people learned from Tom that hard work, responsibility, loyalty, and doing right by others still matter.
"That is the kind of legacy that lasts," said Fitzpatrick.
"As our great nation continues to mark 250 years, Tom’s life is a reminder that the strength of this country has always come from people like him — Americans who serve when called, create opportunity, invest and uplift others, and leave their communities stronger than they found them.
"Tom did all of that."
He continued, "May we keep Ann, his children, grandchildren, the entire Yaegel family, and all who knew and loved Tom in our prayers. Our community is better because of him, and his legacy will live on here forever."
In addition to the Hometown Hero honor, the Richboro Swim and Dive Team has dedicated its season to Yaegel's memory "in appreciation for all he has done for the Richboro Swim Team and Lower Bucks Swim League."
