Man Arrested For Indecent Assault Of Child

Northampton Township Police say Matthew J. Wheeler turned himself in on charges stemming from an incident in 2012.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A man has been arrested in Northampton Township on charges that he sexually assaulted a child.

Matthew J. Wheeler, 43, whose address is listed as being in Framingham, Mass., is charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault and indecent exposure, according to the Northampton Township Police Department.

Wheeler surrendered himself to police on Tuesday, police said. A warrant for his arrest had been issued Aug. 30, according to court documents. He was arraigned by District Justice William Benz and his bail was set at $500,000.

Police say the crimes in the case were against a girl and happened in 2012. Detectives, along with the Bucks County District Attorney's office, began investigating in May 2017.
