Meet Maui, Northampton Township's New Police Dog

K9 Maui started on the Northampton Township police force Wednesday by visiting schools and a state representative.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Northampton Township Police Department has welcomed K9 Maui to its force.

On Wednesday, K9 Maui hit the road with Officer Eric Freas, and was joined by K9 Pako for a tour around the township, the police department said in a Facebook post.

After a photo shoot at police headquarters, Maui and Pako's first stop was to visit state Rep. Kristin Marcell.

From there, Maui paid a visit to a few Council Rock schools. Police said that Maui hoped to meet Achieve students Wednesday, but that they were on a field trip.

"Help us welcome K9 Maui and wish him a safe and successful career," the police department said.

  • Police Chief Steven LeCompte and the Northampton Township Police Department wished Crossing Guard Julio best wishes on his retirement after helping to cross students at Rolling Hills for the past 15 years. "Thank you for your dedication and for taking such great care of our kids," the police department said.
  • Drug Take Back Day will take place at two sites this year: Police Headquarters and the Village Shires Pharmacy. Police ask residents to drop off their unwanted and expired prescription medications. The drop-off at police headquarters is at the Northampton Township Police Parking Lot, 111 Township Rd., Richboro. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30.
