The national one-day event is designed to bring police and citizens together over coffee to discuss community issues.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — A Northampton McDonald's restaurant is one of three in Bucks County that will host National Coffee With a Cop Day events on Wednesday.

The McDonald's at 950 Second Street Pike in Richboro will be hosting officers from the Northampton Township Police Department from 8-10 a.m. on Wednesday.

This national one-day event is designed to bring local police and citizens together over coffee to discuss community issues and build relationships in a safe environment. The first Wednesday of October is deemed National Coffee With a Cop Day, when thousands of police, sheriff, campus, local and federal law enforcement agencies nationwide participate in community events.

"As local business owners, we look forward to hosting these events in the communities we serve, arm-in-arm beside our local police officers," said Mike Abbonizio, owner of the local McDonald's locations. "We hope community members will attend to get to know the officers face-to-face and chat over coffee in a safe and friendly environment."
Other National Coffee With a Cop events will be held at the McDonald's in Levittown (6606 New Falls Rd.) from 6-8 p.m. and Chalfont (4275 County Line Rd.) from 9-11 a.m.

McDonald's restaurants in the greater Philadelphia area also partner with law enforcement agencies throughout the year to host additional Coffee with a Cop events to encourage stronger relationships between police and community members.
