Richboro Elementary Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence

1989–2014

The Richboro Elementary School kicked off its 25th Anniversary at the end of September with a commemorative Spirit Day and Back-to-School Picnic  at the school.

The day got off to a rousing start with the Council Rock South Marching Band leading the school to a spirited morning assembly that included past RES community members making a special appearance. Music teacher Kathleen O’Connor and 6th grade teacher Scott McElrath got everyone pumped up with musical numbers and a video presentation that showcased the RES community throughout it’s history.

Then the entire community turned out to party and picnic on the playground Richboro-style, with food, fun and a DJ leading the dance moves—along with special guests Spiderman and Elsa from ‘Frozen’ mixing it up! The highlight of the afternoon was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, where the teachers of the classes with the highest donations were to take the Challenge. But when the Fire Department showed up and turned on the hose, the kids joyfully took it on themselves! RES exceeded the standard by collecting over $2500 for ALS research, the second highest in the Council Rock School District. Well done, Super Spikes!

The celebration continued a couple weeks later when the entire student body came together as one to form a giant ‘25’ on a sunny Friday afternoon. Knowing RES, there’s bound to be even more surprises to celebrate 25 years of excellence—stay tuned!
