Friends Village offers community living rooted in purpose, belonging and choice. Blending Quaker values and active aging, we promote connection and care for one another. Our residents live well, engaged with the wider world and confident they will have support should they need it. Located on two campuses, Friends Village provides independent living and personal care in peaceful settings embedded in residential neighborhoods. Our Paxson Campus is in the heart of Newtown Borough, close to shops, dining and local events. Our Styer Campus, on Lower Dolington Road, boasts raised-bed gardens and walking paths for resident enjoyment. The full calendar of resident-informed programming features lectures, wellness classes, discussion groups and cultural events to promote residents’ intellectual, physical and social well-being. If needed, Friends Village provides our residents with flexible, affordable support in their own apartments through its NeighborCare program. By using our long-tenured and dedicated staff, it is a home care service without the onerous minimum hours or uncertain staffing of agencies. And if care needs increase further, personal care is available in our historic Paxson Hall. What truly sets Friends Village apart is the warm sense of community. While residents remain connected outside of our walls, our small size and intentional approach ensure that each resident is known and know that they genuinely belong – they thrive, make new friends and live well. Newtown, PA – In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Zlock Performing Arts Center presents The Great American Songbook Piano Sessions on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 7:30 PM, an intimate contemporary concert experience honoring the songs, composers, and musical traditions that have helped create the soundtrack of America.
This special evening brings together four of Bucks County’s premier pianists — Charlie Ernst, Steve Kramer, Eric Mintel, and Tom Lawton — for a monumental celebration of our nation’s musical heritage.
Each featured pianist will take center stage for a 30-minute set of specially curated music, bringing a distinctive style, personality, and interpretation to selections inspired by the rich legacy of the Great American Songbook. From sophisticated standards and jazz favorites to melodies that have endured across generations, audiences can expect a program filled with musical surprises.
Rather than a traditional concert, The Great American Songbook Piano Sessions is designed to capture the warm, relaxed feeling of a private late-night performance shared among friends. With four remarkable pianists taking turns at the keys, no two sets will sound alike.
Adding to the excitement is an exceptional all-star rhythm section, featuring Lou Volpe on guitar, Motoki Mihara on bass, and Mark Pultorak on drums. Together, these outstanding musicians will provide the musical foundation for each pianist while creating the kind of spontaneity, interplay, and inspired musical conversation that makes live jazz so exciting.
