Woman Stole $100K In Daytime Burglary: Northampton Police

Police had interviewed the woman earlier Wednesday morning after she was reported to be sleeping in her red Corvette.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — Police in Northampton have accused a 47-year-old woman of stealing more than $100,000 worth of jewelry, coins and more in a daytime burglary on Wednesday.

Lisa Ann Curry is charged with burglary and receiving stolen property in the case, in which, at one point, she was found sleeping in the red Corvette in which police say the items she stole were later found.

Police were called Wednesday to a home on Rachel Road in the Richboro section of Northampton. There, residents said that some time between 7:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m., someone stole jewelry, coins, foreign currency and other valuables worth in excess of $100,000.

At about 9:30 a.m. that day, police officers had been called to a spot on Whitney Lane. The caller had reported a suspicious red Corvette in the area, saying there appeared to be a woman sleeping in it.

Police identified the woman as Curry, but released her because, at that time, they had no knowledge of the Rachel Road burglary. Investigators assigned to follow up the case were tipped off that the Corvette had been spotted in a motel parking lot in Bensalem.

Police approached Curry at the motel and say an interview with her led them to the stolen items inside the car. The Corvette was impounded pending a search warrant and Curry was taken to the Northampton Township Police station.

Curry was arraigned is being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $75,000 bond. Police in New Jersey have also filed a detainer against Curry, Northampton Police said.
