CTMA/PW Get High Marks in Yearly Treasury Audits

Collegeville/Trappe Municipal Authority and Public Works Department met this past Tuesday to discuss yearly treasury audits, sewer videos, and compost-site security.

In its yearly due diligence to stay well in the black, this year's treasury audits were a positive return. Gregory Ede, CPA of Styer Associates in Souderton completed audits of both the Municipal Authority and the Public Works departments. With only a few comments and no discrepancies, the audits, which are now in draft forms were approved, and will be submitted to their respective departments within a week.

In the engineer’s report delivered by Public Works Director Joe Hastings, it was announced that work is scheduled to begin shortly on the CTMA/PW “Inflow and Infiltration” project on the municipalities sewer mains and laterals.

In other business, the Public Works department discussed at great length, an opportunity to secure the compost site on 7th Avenue and Borough Line Road. Recent complaints of illegal construction waste dumping have raised concerns about the properties' usage.

Hastings presented the group with his rendered plans for securing the site through a use of chain linked fence and stone walls surrounded by a wall of arborvitaes. Public Works Chairman Paul Edwards suggested the current location might not be the best suited for this type of site.

The board eventually agreed that the best course of action was to have the property surveyed while seeking bids for estimates on fencing. Concerns of the aesthetic result of this security were also addressed. It was also suggested by Hastings that more importantly, the site be cleaned and organized first.

Estimates and survey results will be presented at next months CTMA/PW meeting.
