Customers Line Up for Free Water Ice at Rita's

The Collegeville store hosts its 19th annual first day of spring tradition.

It's that time of year again, when everyone rushes out to the nearest Rita's Water Ice in their area. Today is the first day of spring, and Rita's Water Ice gave out a free, regular-sized Italian ice to each customer to get everyone in the mood for spring weather. This was the popular chain's 19th annual event.

By the time the 's in Collegeville opened at noon, there were already more than 30 area residents waiting patiently in line for their free water ice.

Customers were welcomed by the chain's own mascot, Ice Guy, who waved and got the crowd excited for spring.
