DVFS Senior from Perkiomenville Receives Comcast Scholarship

Delaware Valley Friends School Senior Adrianna Mowrer ('17) awarded 2017-18 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship

Congratulations to Delaware Valley Friends School senior Adrianna Mowrer, resident of Perkiomenville, for her selection as a recipient of the 2017-18 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. This program recognizes young people who are helping to make our communities stronger.
The scholarship award is $1,000 to be applied to educational expenses at an accredited college or university.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program is a nomination-based award, and only one student per school may be nominated by their principal or guidance counselor. Leaders and Achievers, funded through the Comcast Foundation, recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for their commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership.
On a daily basis Adrianna demonstrates the qualities described in the award as a co-clerk of our student government, as a leader in the Service Committee, and as a valued teammate on the soccer field and basketball court. In 2016, Adrianna traveled with a team of students from DVFS to India on a service trip for which she helped raise money to facilitate building a school for children rescued from child labor. From collecting toys for the holidays to raising money for many of the service and outreach activities we support, Adrianna has always been first in line to fundraise, volunteer, and build community throughout her years as a student at Delaware Valley Friends School.

As a representative of the school, Adrianna has demonstrated assistive technology apps at both the Apple Store, and at the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Her confidence and willingness to talk about her life as a student with a learning difference - dyslexia - is an inspiration to students and faculty, alike.
