Fire crews from the region extinguished a blaze that broke out at Perkiomen Township home, 548 Township Line Road, shortly before 2:30 p.m., March 29. Chief John Moran said the blaze was caused by fireplace ashes that were dumped outside the home's attached garage.
Crews had the fire under control in less than an hour.
The garage's exterior wall was heavily damaged; the attic's soffit also suffered damage. The home's interior also experienced some fire damage, Moran said, and some of the drywall had to be pulled down to access the fire in the attic. The house is not inhabitable at this time, Moran said.
