Jamie Biddle—This Week's Perk Valley Peak Performer
Patch's new weekly feature spotlights a standout student.
One of the greatest things about covering sports is that you never know when a highlight is going to happen. It's one moment in time that will be the fodder for stories to share and pass on throughout the years.
One such moment led to the starting the season with a win over former PAC-10 foe Lansdale Catholic last Friday night.
In a game that carried over into the third overtime period, one play made the difference in the outcome of the game—one snap, one hold and more importantly one kick.

After watching his team struggle with converting on the point after touchdown (PAT) attempts all night, Perkiomen Valley junior Jamie Biddle, who was walking to the side line following a 17-yard touchdown reception by Ryan Boyd, was summoned by coach Scott Reed to go back onto the field and kick the extra point.
“I had absolutely no idea that I would be kicking Friday night,” said Biddle, who handled the place kicking duties all last season for Perk Valley as a sophomore, but this year is playing wide out. “I was coming off the field and Coach Reed grabbed me and told me I was kicking the PAT after Ryan’s catch.”

With no warm-up, Biddle calmly stepped up and blasted the kick high into the night sky, giving the Vikings a seven-point edge.
“I just focused on making good contact with the ball,” said Biddle. “I always make sure that the holder has the ball set before I start my motion. He (Ryan D'Ambrosio) had a great hold, and the snap was perfect, so all I had to do was put it through. I know I kick the ball a little higher, so I was confident I could do it. That’s why I play football, I want to be on the field when the game is on the line.”
“I know this game was big for the seniors,” Biddle added. “Last year, we had a big lead on them, and we let them come back and beat us. We all had a bad taste in our mouths from that. Regardless, if I kick another extra point or field goal all year, I am glad that I had a chance to give us a win to start the season. It was huge.”
