Not Just "Stop, Drop and Roll"
The Perkiomen Fire company has spent much of this week teaching young children about fire safety.
A group of preschoolers in Perkiomen Township learned the essentials of fire safety on Thursday morning during a visit from the Perkiomen Fire Company.
After a classroom presentation on fire safety in the home and classroom, each of the children in the pre-kindergarten class at Kiddie Academy of Collegeville enjoyed the opportunity to sit in the bright red Engine 66 truck, where many peppered the firefighters with questions about the various pieces of equipment.
In advance of Fire Prevention Week, which is observed starting Sunday, Chief John Moran, Jr. said the fire company had done several presentations at local schools in the past few days.

"We've been busy," Moran said.
Following a fire drill, which gave the children a chance to apply their new fire safety knowledge, each student received their own toy firefighter's helmet, as well as fire safety themed activity packets and crayons.
