Perkiomen Valley Vikings Hunt Down the Panthers
The PJPII boys varsity soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss today against PV.
Despite their tremendous effort as atheltes and as a team, the PJPII boys just could not catch up to the Vikings lead.
"We had a tough game today," said head coach Jerry Deleo. "The effort was there but a couple of mistakes were made right after the first half, and that led to some goals."
In the first half of the game, PJPII fought hard, remaining scoreless and only allowing the Vikings to score one. By the second half, however, PJPII was still unable to score any goals, but allowed the Vikings to score two more. Goalie Alex Plate was in the zone tonight, blocking numerous shots from PV, all of which were extremely difficult to block. One shot came in right under the top of the next, but plate leaped to his feet and sent it right up and over the post; a huge save for PJPII.

"You can't give up goals to a team as good as Perk Valley," Deleo said. "We found ourselves trying to play catch up, and against a defensive team like that it's hard to come back from, but the guys didn't give up at all."
The final score of the game was PJPII, 0, PVHS, 3. Coach Deleo mentioned that he thinks the team's loss had something to do with their difficulty adjusting to the new field that they played on.

"I think they got a little distracted by the field," said Deleo. "It was our first time playing on this field with this team. The ball was to be played vertically instead of side to side... so it created a little bit of a different dynamic and we had difficulty making the adjustment."
