PJPII Girls Set The Standard High

The PJPII girls varsity soccer team shows Pottstown that they won't be an easy match this year.

Pope John Paul II girls varsity soccer team beat Pottstown 11-0 on Friday.

To say that the PJPII dominated the game would be a complete understatement.
Very modest about their win, Coach Mark Beck only had the best things to say about both his team and Pottstown's team.
"They played well," Beck said. "Pottstown is a new team; they've only been in the league for a few years, but they showed a lot of heart and spirit today."

By the half, the PJPII girls were up 5-0. Going into the second half, the girls seemed to get a refuel of energy, because they came back to score six more goals, and allowed no goals scored on them.

Even though this was a team effort, Beck said he had a few key players that helped in today's win.
"Savannah, our point forward, and Monica, our center mid. She (Monica) really controlled the whole midfield for us today. She's in charge of the offense and she really kept it together and kept the girls in good formation."

Coach Beck had this to say about how this game, and Pottstown's team, helped his team: "They're building this team," said Beck.
"I really give them credit for never hanging their heads today. It would have been easy to, but they didn't. And I wish them luck for the rest of the season."
