Schwenksville Man Not Injured in One-Vehicle Crash

Driver claims car accelerated as he hit the brakes.

A Schwenksville man emerged from a gray Jeep 4x4 unharmed after the vehicle rammed into the 10-inch curb and careened into a bank of trees and brush below by in Perkiomen Township.

“I pressed the brake and then it accelerated instead," the man said at the scene -- he did not give his name.
"I don’t know what happened; it’s never done that before," he said. "I was just shopping at the store and drove through the lot like I always do. It surprised me when it took off.”

were dispatched along with local volunteer fire police to aid in removal of the vehicle and investigate the circumstances of the accident. The car was towed from the foliage.

A group of people who were nearby waiting for a shuttle to the at Pool Farm were also unharmed.

“I heard a loud crash behind me as I was directing people where to wait for the bus,” said Folk Fest volunteer Casey as she manned her post in the parking lot. “This gray SUV had gone over the curb and into the trees; fortunately, no one was in the path of it.”

“The guy came over here and said he hit the brakes, but the car took off,” said festival volunteer Patrick. “I was in the store when it happened. I heard a large bang that sounded like an explosion and came running out to see what had happened.”
