Skippack Swim Team Celebrates Season

Skippack Swim Team celebrates their second place league finish with a banquet at their pool last night.

Skippack Swim Team, consisting of more than 200 swimmers, celebrated their second-place league finish with a banquet and awards ceremony at their pool last night.  

"We are very proud of their success and focus on sportsmanship," said head coach Mike Hones. Skippack finished second place in a seven team league, and ended their season with five wins and only one loss. "It was a great season," said assistant coach Brian Zeigler. "It was fun to see a lot of the kids continue their development and see others make their way into the sport. 

With many kids making their way into the sport, many current swimmers set records for the team. Zach Alderfer holds in the record in the 8-year-old and under 25 meter freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly with times of 15.25, 19.21, 22.40 and 18.27 respectively. Logan Thorneloe holds the record in the 13- and 14-year-old 200-meter free relay with a time of 1:52.14.

"I think we did really well this year," says swimmer Madison Cooper, age 10. "I think we have a really good chance next year." Sister swimmers Kylie, age 11, and Kristen, age 10, Pelzer both agreed that the team did an awesome job, and think that this year was one of their best years. Skippack Swim Team even got to compete in the Northeast Invitational.

Included in the awards ceremony was dolphin awards, MVP awards, and most improved awards.
