24 Shot, 4 Killed In Violent Philadelphia Weekend

Philadelphia officials are planning to address the weekend's violence at a news conference late Monday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA — As people flocked to Philadelphia for holiday events and shopping, the city saw a weekend of violence with numerous shootings, some fatal.

Authorities Monday said 24 people were shot over the weekend, and four people died as a result of those shootings.

First, three teenagers were shot in Dilworth Park, near the ice rink and Christmas village, late Friday afternoon.

Two 14-year-old boys and another teenager were injured when an argument turned violent in the busy tourist area. One of the teens is in critical condition, while the other two are stable.

Then at about 9:14 p.m. Friday, an 18-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were shot in the chin and arms. The 18-year-old is critical while the 15-year-old is sable, according to Fox 29.

The outlet also reports two men are in stable condition after being shot at the Bamboo Restaurant and Nightclub on the 6200 block of Bustleton Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday.

A man was fatally shot while sitting in his car at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of North 32nd Street, according to NBC10. A bystander who was leaving a nearby home was also hurt in that shooting, having suffered a gunshot to the leg.

At about 1:03 a.m. Sunday, a 48-year-old man was fatally shot at Henry's Sports Bar at 29th Street and Chalmers Avenue, Action News reports. Two other men, 43 and 44 years old, were hurt in that shooting.

Then at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, five people were shot at D Street and Wyoming Avenue in Logan, one of whom died. The man killed was 23 years old, and the other victims were 28 to 45 years old, Action News reports.
