🌱 $450M Opioid Settlement + Lack of Oversight + Winter Storm Coming
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Philadelphia.

Welcome back, Philadelphia! I'm here in your inbox today to get you up to speed on everything you need to know about what's going on around town, including news on:
- Pennsylvania to receive $450M from CVS, Walgreens as part of Opioid Settlement.
- A Philly-area youth center had 'dangerous' lack of oversight, per grand jury report.
- Get out your boots, gloves and shovels, a winter storm in coming.
But first, today's weather:
Sun mixing with clouds. High: 41 Low: 31.
Here are the top stories in Philadelphia today:
- The effect of the opioid pandemic in Pennsylvania can easily be seen under the Market Frankford Elevated Line where thousands of drug users and abusers live on the streets, caught in the grips of addiction. Pennsylvania will receive more than $450 million from two of the nation's largest pharmaceutical chains-Walgreen's and CVS as part of a multistate settlement related to their roles in the opioid crisis. - HARRISBURG — A grand jury report found a "dangerous lack of oversight" at a juvenile detention center where troubled teens were beaten up by guards, sexually harassed, locked in seclusion for long periods without a court order and treated like criminals. The 208-page report described a vicious work atmosphere of underpaid, overworked and poorly trained guards at the 66-bed Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center. (PennLive)
- Milk! Bread! Eggs! The perfect ingredients for French Toast! Snow, sleet and freezing rain could fall on colder neighborhoods as a large storm system rolls through the Philadelphia region Thursday. The timing could be everything as the large storm system arrives in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The earlier the storm gets here, the more likely snow, sleet and ice would hit. The massive Concolor White Fir that now calls Philadelphia's City Hall home was grown at Stutzman Farms, a third-generation family farm in New York that has been growing and selling Christmas trees for more than half a century. - That was.......Swift. Taylor Swift Fans Get Second Chance at Philadelphia Tickets-
An undisclosed number of Swifties will have the chances to get tickets to her two shows at Lincoln Financial Field next year. In a widely-chronicled fiasco in November, a huge number of Swift fans were unable to get tickets to her 2023 "The Eras" tour after Ticketmaster canceled their public sale due to overwhelming demand. This literally broke the Internet and became national and international news. (PA Patch) - Insert Hallmark-Channel worthy, sappy holiday story about a dog right here-Lucky the dog has had quite the devastating journey thus far, but things are finally looking up - and he is finally getting all the love and care he truly deserves! The now-beloved dog gained local attention after he was found paralyzed on SEPTA train tracks in Philadelphia earlier this month. He had been left there for several days, according to Philly Rescue Angels. (fox29.com)
