Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. A horrific beating and robbery of a woman at 15th and Chestnut in Center City becomes all the more devastating when video shows it was eight teenagers and young adults attacking her. The 33 year-old woman was swarmed by the assailants as they pummel her to the ground and stomp on her head and back until she loses consciousness and then they take her belongings. Some of them were on bikes and police released still photos of them in a store before the attack. The attack was around 7 p.m. and in a very popular area of downtown Philadelphia. 2. The Padro family finally has closure but they will forever miss their son and brother, David. Paul Burkert pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the shooting of David Padro Jr.outside of Pat's King of Steaks in South Philadelphia back in July 2021. The two men got into an argument over a parking spot and Burket pulled a gun and shot Padro in the back, killing him. Jamie Frick, a woman with Burkert, pleaded guilty to simple assault and other charges connected to the fight. (6abc Philadelphia)
  3. A mild winter without plowing and salting of the streets means that potholes can be repaired earlier and with more money and resources! PennDOT is out and about repairing potholes about a month and a half ahead of schedule due to a budget surplus and one of the region's warmest winters on record. So, no busted rims for you! • Even though this guy is going to jail for five years, don't you smell a Netflix movie about him? Bill Omar Carrasquillo was known to his 800,000 fans online as "Omi in a Hellcat" as he showed off his luxury cars, big diamond necklaces and McMansion in NJ. With a $30 million fortune selling hijacked cable set-top boxes at prices as low as $15 a month, he was proud of ripping off the cable giants with a loophole he felt was legal! (www.inquirer.com)
