Philadelphia Mother, Boyfriend Found Guilty Of Murdering 4-Year-Old Boy

4-year-old Damari Carter's remains were found in a duffle bag a few months after he was presumed dead.

PHILADELPHIA — A woman and her boyfriend were found guilty Monday of the murder of the woman's 4-year-old son in Philadelphia.

The case began in late 2023, after family members told 6abc Action News that 4-year-old Damari Carter was missing.

After further investigation, Damari was presumed dead. His mother, Dominique Bailey, and her boyfriend, Kevin Spencer, were charged with murder, abuse of corpse and related offenses.

A few months later, Damari's remains were found inside a duffle bag on the 600 block of North 38th Street in West Philadelphia.

On Monday, a jury found Bailey and Spencer guilty on all counts, including third-degree murder, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, abuse of corpse and tampering with evidence.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 4.
