Boat Crash Hurts 6, Including 2 Kids, On Schuylkill River: Reports

A 29-year-old New Jersey man is charged with boating under the influence after a boat crash on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA — A New Jersey man has been charged with boating under the influence after authorities said he crashed a boat, injuring five people, on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia this weekend.

According to Action News, the crash occurred at about 7 p.m. Saturday on the river at the 34th Street bridge.

Parminder Singh, 29, of Pennsauken, New Jersey, is accused of crashing a boat into the substructure of the bridge while under the influence, NBC10 reports.

The crash hurt several people, including an 11-month-old and 1-year-old, who were on board, Fox 29 reports.

Nine people were on the boat at the time of the crash.

One child was taken to the hospital and treated for a nose bleed, while the other child was also taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

Four adults suffered head, ankle and back injuries and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Singh is charged with eight counts of recklessly endangering another person, one count of aggravated assault, five counts of simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child, operating a watercraft while under the influence, and reckless operation of a watercraft.
