Bullying Sparked Dilworth Park Shooting: Philadelphia Police

Two 14-year-olds are charged with aggravated assault and more crimes in connection with last week's shooting near the Christmas village.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Police said the shooting near the Christmas village and ice rink in Dilworth Park Friday stemmed from a bullying incident, and three teenagers are charged in the incident that left a boy critical.

On Wednesday, police said three 14-year-old boys are charged with aggravated assault and related crimes in connection with Friday's shooting. One was taken into custody Friday, another Wednesday morning, and the third has a warrant out for his arrest.

The shooting left three teenagers hurt. One of the boys, 14, is in critical condition after being shot in the eye. Two others, 14 and 15, are stable, police said.

At a news conference Wednesday, police said the situation began with an instance of bullying.

One of the suspects was mocking the younger brother of the teen who is critical, police said. That led to an argument, which escalated to the shooting, according to authorities.

Police said they are looking for other people involved in the shooting.
