Dozens Of Shots Fired In Gun Battle Outside Philly Rec Center: Reports
More than two dozen shots were fired outside the Lawncrest Rec Center and a day care early Thursday evening.
PHILADELPHIA — Nearly 30 shots were fired in a gun battle early Thursday evening outside a Philadelphia recreation center.
The incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday outside the Lawncrest Recreation Center at Rising Sun Avenue and Comly Street, Fox 29
The shootout began when the owner of a Mustang saw someone trying to break into it and intervened, according to Action News

NBC10 reports the owner and the would-be thief pulled out guns and began firing.
In total 27 shots were fired, striking vehicles and the rec center, where five employees and five children were inside.

The vehicle owner was legally permitted to carry a firearm, and it's unclear if the attempted car thief was struck by any of the fired rounds.
