Man Dies Trying To Board SEPTA Train Thursday In Philadelphia

A 35-year-old man died Thursday night after apparently trying to board a Market-Frankford Line train as it departed Spring Garden station.

PHILADELPHIA – A man died Thursday evening after apparently trying to board a moving SEPTA train after mistakenly getting off the same train, according to SEPTA officials.

Officials said the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at Spring Garden Station.

The 35-year-old man was believed to have been trying to get back on an eastbound Market-Frankford Line train when he fell between train cars, according to officials.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at about 10:25 p.m.

No other passengers or SEPTA crew members were injured. SEPTA used buses to shuttle riders between 5th and Berks streets after the incident.

The incident is under investigation by SEPTA and Philadelphia Police.
