Patient Stabs EMT In Philadelphia Thursday Morning: Police
The medic is in critical, but stable, condition, and the patient-turned-suspect is in police custody after the Thursday morning incident.
PHILADELPHIA — A medic is in critical condition after he was stabbed twice early Thursday morning in Philadelphia, reportedly by a patient he was treating in an ambulance.
According to police, the stabbing occurred at about 6:28 a.m. at North 22nd and Diamond streets.
The medic was stabbed in the chest and hand while in an ambulance with a patient, police said.

Authorities told Fox 29 the patient became irate and attacked the medic.
The patient then jumped out of the ambulance and ran off, but was taken into custody, according to NBC10 and police.

Police said while the medic is in critical condition, he is stable.
This attack on a healthcare professional comes less than a week after three nurses were struck by a vehicle while attending to a patient outside Penn Presbyterian Hospital.
A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with that incident.
