Philly Dog Loses Hind Legs After Being Trapped In Tether

Logan lost his back legs but survived and is doing well. Now, he needs a foster home or a forever home.

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia dog who lost both his back legs in need of a new home.

The Pennsylvania SCPA said Logan had to have both hind legs amputated after he was found with his legs tightly tangled in a tether three weeks ago by the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia.

Logan was taken immediately to the SPCA where veterinarians debrided his wounds, performed surgery.

The severity of the entanglement led to the circulation in his back legs to be completely cut off, which sadly forced the double amputation.

Logan went to Penn Vet, and there the surgery team did everything they could to save the right hind leg, which was the more injured of the two and had no pulse.

The same thing occurred in his left leg.

But you wouldn't know Logan weathered such a tragic experience based on his demeanor.

"Despite all he has been through, Logan remains the sweetest of dogs," the SPCA said. "Though he will need a cart, he is already up and moving on his own too. He scoots around, and even walks somewhat on his front legs. He's amazing. He's a miracle dog."

The Pennsylvania SPCA is looking for an adoptive home or a foster to adopt home.

Logan's care and rehab at Penn is being covered by Penn Vet Shelter Medicine's Richard Lichter Charity for Dogs Program.
