Philly Natives Will Smith, Kevin Hart Remaking Classic Comedy

Two of Philadelphia's most prominent sons are teaming up to remake the classic comedy "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."

PHILADELPHIA — Two of the most famous people to come out of Philadelphia are teaming up to remake a classic buddy comedy film.

Philly natives Will Smith and Kevin Hart will be working together on a remake of "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."

Hart announced the project on Instagram Monday.

"I’ve been patiently waiting for the right project to team up with my brother with," Hart said on Instagram. "We found it and are developing it together with our teams. This will be huge for us and the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia."

The original film released in 1987 with Steve Martin and John Candy as the lead characters.

The unlikely duo spend three days traversing part of the United States in an attempt to get Martin's character home for Thanksgiving.
