Here are the top stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. The open air drug trade and horrific addiction that plagues the Kensington section of Philadelphia has made national headlines as America becomes suffocated with opioid and narcotic additions. Now an animal tranquilizer drug, nicknamed, "Tranq" on the streets has been causing more overdoses and necrotic wound infections, a program called "Savage Sisters" tries to save lives and give addicts help and compassion. (WPVI-TV)
  2. The 2023 Philadelphia Mayor's race already has multiple candidates but one major issue is at the top of everyone's campaign: Crime in Philadelphia. As a city under siege with gun violence and lawlessness, former City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart has released her plan for public safety if she wins the top office in City Hall. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  3. Sure, thousands are booking hotel rooms in and around Phoenix, Arizona for Super Bowl LVII, but hotels in Philadelphia are quickly filling up too. Could it be that Philadelphia already has a reputation for their epic and legendary after-game celebrations? What Eagles fan wouldn't want a hotel on Broad Street where the atmosphere is sure to become part parade, part block party if the Eagles win The Big Game. You might be able to snag a room if you book now! (WPVI-TV)

  • Your Philadelphia Patch curator has a very soft spot for Port Richmond cause that's where she's born and raised! Come out and celebrate one of the oldest riverward neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Port Richmond is Celebrating its 176th Birthday With Food Trucks, Beer Garden, Live Boxing Matches and Music (Wooder Ice)
  • If you plan to watch President Biden's State of the Union address, keep a close eye out for PA's new Senator John Fetterman and the guest he invited to Washington D.C.-Fetterman's State of the Union guest is Philly man he helped free from prison (PennLive)
  • 'Queer Eye' Star Antoni Porowski Coming to Philly to 'Do Dinner' - a few years back, Porowski and his Queer Eye co-stars visited Czerw's Polish Provisions in Port Richmond to but kielbasa and pierogies for a Polish feast he was cooking. Let's see where he visits this time in Philly! (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  • I Love You to Pizzas! Q: What's the difference between a $15 steak and a $55 steak? A: February 14th! You don't need to have steak and lobster for a huge mark up on Valentine's Day to get lucky with your honey. One of my favorite pizza places, Tacconelli's, just opened their second location and trust me, if you order the homemade pastas by Vince Jr and the white pie with sweet sausage and peppers.......plan ahead and wear your clean underwear. Tacconelli's opens its second N.J. pizzeria, in Haddon Township (msn.com)
