PHILADELPHIA — About five months after a fire tore through one of Philadelphia's most popular cheesesteak shops, the business has shared photos of the extensive damage it sustained.

Jim's Steaks posted social media photos of the damage caused by the late July fire.

"Many of you have asked, 'When will Jim’s reopen,'" Jim's said on social media. "Well… as you can see, there’s lots of work ahead. Thank you for the flood of well-wishes and support. We can’t wait to share our progress toward an epic Philly comeback."

The fire started the morning of Friday, July 29 at its 400 South St. location.

Jim's owner Ken Silver said the business's HVAC system had been malfunctioning, and one of the assistant managers reported smelling an electrical odor when she arrived early Friday morning.

The Philadelphia Fire Marshal's Office determined the cause of the fire was electrical.

Crews had the fire under control by about 1:33 p.m. Friday.

More than 125 Philadelphia Fire Department members responded to the fire.

Silver vows to rebuild the store, which sustained less damage than previously believed.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to support Jim's employees during the closure.

The campaign is now closed, but raised more than $25,000.
