Trump Impeachment Rally Set For July 2 In Philly

Organizers say the march is to "demand Congress do their job and remove Trump from office."

PHILADELPHIA – It's no surprise that Philadelphia's voters overwhelmingly supports Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in the 2016 election. We've gleaned that from election numbers, and maybe even more so by the protests and rallies that have been held in the city since the election.

And those protests, marches, and rallies are not over, as another rally is set for early July that is pushing for Congress to impeach President Trump.

According to a Facebook event, the Impeachment March will be held Sunday, July 22. But as of Monday June 12 the time and location are to be determined. Organizers said they are hoping for a 10 a.m. start and are awaiting a response from City of Philadelphia officials.

"Donald Trump has been in violation of the Constitution from the day he was sworn into the office of President," organizers said on the event's Facebook page. "Neither do we feel our country is in safe nor able hands, and we will not quietly ride out a tenure that threatens our democracy and way of life. We demand that Congress stop enabling President Trump through an embarrassing and potentially catastrophic charade of normalcy. The future of American Democracy rests in their hands."

Those interested can sign up to volunteer for the march online here.

Volunteers are needed to stand with signage at Philadelphia train stations to direct incoming participants in the right direction and who will encourage peaceful and respectful dialogue with those who oppose the march.

There's not word of a counter protest/rally, yet. But should one pop up it won't be a surprise, as the city has seen protestors converge on each other before.
