U.S. Representative 6th District
The 6th District, formerly the second most gerrymandered district behind the old 7th - was radically redrawn, and now includes most of Chester County, along with the city of Reading. The addition of liberal stronghold Reading is great news for Democrats. Ryan Costello, a very moderate Republican incumbent, will not seek re-election. Former federal prosecutor Greg McCauley is running in his place. Costello said his decision was partially motivated by the redrawn PA congressional map which he saw as unconstitutional, and partially due to being stuck between extremists in his own party and extreme progressives, and being unable to make anyone happy. He had criticized Trump extensively, but has been at the center of numerous scandals flamed by area progressives, including issues revolving around town halls and his votes supporting certain Trump measures like the tax bill (he was against other Trump stances, like climate change and healthcare).
>>Rep. Costello Will Not Run For Re-Election
Chrissy Houlahan, a businesswoman, is the Democratic candidate and now, given the redrawn district, a heavy favorite. The 6th has been red for more than a decade.
