• Food Temperatures, Mold and Dirty Equipment Flagged at Chester County Sites (mychesco.com) — Chester County health inspectors recently reviewed numerous food businesses, and Phoenixville's Barkley Elementary School cafeteria and Rancho Brazilian Market on Kimberton Road were both listed in full compliance. Other sites around the county, however, were cited for issues like unsafe food temperatures, poor handwashing, mold, and equipment problems, with some required to make quick fixes or face follow-up inspections.
   

• Cumberland County fire association receives part of $47M federal grant (pennlive.com) — Phoenixville's fire services are set to receive more than $974,000 in federal FEMA funding, a significant boost aimed at staffing and strengthening local emergency response. The grant is part of over $47 million awarded across several Mid-Atlantic states to improve firefighter safety, recruitment, and equipment, with additional Pennsylvania departments also benefiting from the three national fire grant programs.
   

• High School Golf + Tennis Roundup (Sept. 24): Spring-Ford boys, Methacton girls win thrilling finales to secure PAC golf crowns (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Phoenixville High School golfers closed their PAC season on a high note, topping Upper Perkiomen behind a standout 39 from Jayden O'Malley and strong rounds from teammates. Phoenixville tennis players also featured in the PAC singles tournament, where several Phantoms advanced through early rounds as Spring-Ford and Methacton squads battled for league golf titles elsewhere in the conference.
