3 Water Rescues Of Boaters In Schuylkill Near Phoenixville
Rescue crews in the Phoenixville area had a busy weekend in the fast moving waters of the Schuylkill River.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Rescue crews in the Phoenixville area had a busy weekend in the fast moving waters of the Schuylkill River.
Due to recent storms, the river was swollen and moving more swiftly than is usual.
One incident on Sunday, Aug. 5 involved a motorboat with four individuals on board, according to the Phoenixville Fire Department.

The craft lost power while moving through the river. Boaters were able to navigate close to the shore, where they tied off to a tree between the Black Rock boat ramp and the dam, officials said.
They were soon rescued by crews with the Friendship Fire Company Diving-Rescue Unit.

Two other incidents also occurred on Sunday, when kayaks overturned in two separate areas. One victim was rescued from the pier near the Mont Clare bridge, while another was rescued from a tree, authorities said.
Officials advised all river users to take precautions and to avoid going out on the river when its' moving higher and faster than normal.
Trappe Fire Company No. 1 and Black Rock Fire Co. also assisted.
